"The news report did not mention an alarm system or any form of home security device that could have alerted the authorities to the burglar’s presence in the property. Kerrigan was fortunate enough that the burglar did not commit any bodily harm towards her. The lack of security in her home, however, is discouraging. Tighter home security in Tucson is badly needed. Households in the Foothills area, for example, are frequent targets of crimes that a neighborhood watch was organized to battle these crimes. A good addition to such efforts would be to equip households with home security systems and alarms."
